Sloan Park was designed by Populous and opened in 2014 as a replacement for nearby Hohokam Stadium. Since its opening in 2014, Sloan Park has seen many memorable moments over its short history. On March 17th 2015 future All-Star outfielder Kris Bryant stepped onto the diamond at Sloan Park and recorded his first career home run off pitcher Yohan Flande. In 2016 Javier Baez made his mark by becoming just the second player in MLB history to hit two grand slams during spring training; one coming against the Texas Rangers at Sloan Park while others have contributed notable feats including Ian Happ’s first career homerun (May 8th 2018).
